Dutch photographer/director Anton Corbijn has been taking iconic photos of Tom Waits for over three decades at this point and now the pair is releasing a hardcover book of their collaborative efforts, combining Corbijn-shot portraits and lyrics “from major Waits albums.” The book, titled Waits/Corbijn, contains 160 pages, including 75 color and duotone plates, and will drop this fall from publisher Schirmer/Mosel.

U2 rocker BONO has rescued the ill-fated SPIDER-MAN musical by arranging financing to keep the show afloat.

Bono and bandmate The Edge wrote the music to accompany the Broadway extravaganza, which was announced to much fanfare last year (08).

But work on the stage show stopped last month (Aug09), amid rumours producers Hello Entertainment were encountering financial problems.

Anton Corbijn is currently working on his second feature film, a thrilller starring George Clooney based on the novel A Very Private Gentleman. He is also making a new photo/lyrics book with Tom Waits.

U2 makes the hair on Bono’s neck stand on end.

The 49-year-old singer says something « very strange » happens when he walks into a room with bandmates Adam Clayton, Larry Mullen Jr. and the Edge.

He explained: « There’s something very strong when the four of us walk into abuilding. I’m pretty famous so I’m used to walking into a room and having people look up, but when it’s the four of us the hairs on their necks stand up.

Along with scores of former Islamic fighters and suspected terrorists, U2 frontman Bono Vox could be stripped of his Bosnian passport, local media reported over the weekend.

Bono who, with other world stars, worked to alleviate the plight of Bosnian residents during the 1992-95 war, received his honorary Bosnian passport from late president Alija Izetbegovic in 1997, when U2 performed at Sarajevo’s Kosevo stadium.

Thousands of you put on the Aung San Suu Kyi Mask during the show, when the band play Walk On – and thousands more of you are wearing the mask in strange and interesting places, all over the world.

Kinesys has designed and supplied the bespoke motion-control system for the big video screen on U2’s 360° world tour. The system consists of 40 Kinesys Evo zero-speed chain hoists and eight custom-built winches, all controlled by the company’s K2 3D software control package.

The centrepiece of the stage set contains 888 individual hexagonal panels which support 500,000 Barco LED pixels. The entire structure can ’stretch’ from a compressed height of 7m to over 22m at full extension, forming a conical shape as it expands.

The screen hangs in the middle of a giant four-legged claw that sits centrally in the stadium above the stage, which is surrounded by the audience.
